First time visiting this restaurant, and we were pleasantly surprised. We tried the quesadillas, quesabirrias, and ceviche tostadas—everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The horchata and Mexican coffee were excellent as well. Highly recommend this spot! To top it off, the customer service was phenomenal—the owner is incredibly warm and welcoming.

Chelitos has quickly become our favorite Mexican food spot in Mundelein! My husband and I come here often, and every visit is consistently amazing. The food has the homemade flavor we've been missing; you can tell they use quality ingredients and put care into every dish.
The birria tacos are a must-try; tender, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. We've tried a variety of meats for their tacos, and every single one has been excellent. Let's not forget the margaritas, perfection! The classic is smooth and balanced, while the mango margarita is bright, refreshing, and dangerously easy to love. I love that you can choose between class salt and tajin. This is a place you go to if you want truly authentic cuisine.
The staff is always warm. welcoming, and cozy, making every meal feel special. We can't wait to bring our out-of-state friends here; Chelitos is a true local gem that never disappoints.
